Sweep It Under God's Rug Of Mercy

by Jennifer Haynes

I was reading from my favorite little book, "Glimmers of Grace" - Sparkling Reminders to Encourage You
The first thing my eyes focused on was the chapter "Grace in the Daily Grind" and then the story "Under God's Mercy".
This part of the chapter talks about how we all have issues and need to come to the realization that all of our issues cannot be fixed in this lifetime because that is what Heaven is for .....
That does not mean that we should sweep our issues under the rug and ignore them, but it simply means that we must decide "what can go under the mercy of God". There are things in our lives that are much greater than we can handle, which is exactly the way God intended so that we can lean on Him to get us though and open our eyes to what He has to offer.

"Under the mercy of God is a place where you put things when you know that they are not going to be healed within this lifetime. These are the things you can't fix in (other people) and they just need mercy. Grace. Forgivness. And that is a perfectly okay place to start building something new - on the platform of mercy, forgiveness and grace."
-Anita Renfroe, "If It's Not One Thing It's Your Mother"

Although here the reference to the things that can't be fixed specifies "other people", I also believe that it applies to some things that we cannot fix in ourselves. People say, "Oh, you can fix that, you just have to work on it." Yes and that is true, but sometimes it isn't that simple and does not mean that the issue goes away totally/forever. The process of getting through some things is daily, and that is when you take it to God in prayer.

We weren't created to "have our way." We were created to worship God and trust Him with His way. -Kathy Troccoli
