If anyone follows me on Facebook, you’ve seen my daily posts on Domestic Violence Awareness in honor of October being National Domestic Violence Month. This issue is dear to me as I was a victim of domestic violence.
I was hit, spit on, knocked to the floor and ground, called out of my name, kicked, told no one else would ever want me, and have had my hair pulled out in wads from trying to get away when I was grabbed by my hair. I even jumped out of moving car once to get away. And the sad thing about it, people watched and never helped because they were “his friends” or they didn’t want to get involved.
Domestic violence is real. One in every 4 women and 1 in every 7 men have been victims of domestic violence. Domestic Violence is a serious problem. People need to make it their business and help those being abused. If you are afraid to get involved physically, call the police. Don’t just let this problem continue. Wouldn’t you want someone to do the same for you if you were in the same situation?
