Chavela Davis is a native of Columbus, Ohio. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/Women’s Studies. Her educational background along with an undying passion to help others led Chavela to start her own foundation for women. Chavela is currently working toward receiving a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Leadership.
Chavela is the grand-daughter of Mother Betty J. DaCons, of whom she has named her foundation after. The Betty J. DaCons Foundation, Inc., has been in existence since 2011, and focuses on encouraging and empowering chemically dependent women. It is Chavela’s goal to have her own women’s center with the same name here in the Columbus area in the near future. The vision for The Betty J. DaCons Foundation, Inc., came to fruition after many personal childhood tragedies. A daughter of an addict and a survivor of sexual abuse, Chavela has made it her life mission to help other survivors of abuse. It was through her own personal struggles that she experienced the love and strength of Jesus Christ.
Chavela is a member of The Triumphant Christian Center under the leadership of Apostle Juan Woods and Pastor Verniece Woods. Her belief is that ministry does not always come from behind the pulpit, therefore, when the opportunity presented itself she jumped at the chance to assist with an empowering ministry. That ministry being Compassion’s International Ministry, which is a ministry that works with incarcerated women. This opened the door for Chavela to minister at The Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW), and states that the experience with the female prisoners was one she will never forget. Most recently, Chavela has become the outreach specialist for The Wounded Women Healed Ministry which also focuses on the encouragement of women who have been wounded in life. As a National Ambassador for Integrity Beauty Women of Excellence, Chavela will continue to use this platform to empower and encourage women.
A lover of music, Chavela has always desired to sing professionally. Chavela’s next step is to record a gospel CD. Chavela was honored to be selected as a finalist in the 2013 Gifted By God Talent Showcase. Chavela was sincerely humbled by this opportunity and did not take this for granted. She believes that this is her time to allow her light to ever so shine and allow God to use her mightily for the “Kindgdom” like never before.
